Hello and welcome to 19 Newtown!

We’re Barry and Susannah, and we first discovered this beautiful town in 2023, celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and buying this house shortly afterwards. It was love at first sight—Sidmouth’s charm and friendliness won us over, and now we can’t imagine being anywhere else.

We decided that Sidmouth was the perfect place to relax and unwind and simply fell in love (again!) with 19 Newtown, historically known as ‘Olive Cottage’, which dates back to the early 1800s. 

Some of our favourite things to do here include leisurely walks along the beach to Jacobs Ladder and exploring the delightful Connaught Gardens. Sidmouth offers a fantastic selection of places to eat and drink, and we never tire of sampling the local cuisine, buying local fish or relaxing with a coffee as we soak up the atmosphere.

Whether the hustle and bustle of the many festivals including the world famous Folk and Jazz Festivals or the chilled atmosphere of the town itself, Sidmouth really does have something for everybody.
